    Inspired by boots from actual wars, combat boots have had a long and interesting history in fashion. They were popular in the early ’80s among British punks, in the ’90s among grunge fans, and now they’re trendy once again.     Unlike a lot of fashionable shoes, combat boots are totally functional, too. Patent styles are naturally water-resistant, and the thick rubber soles are designed to resist wear and tear. So while she may not be marching into battle, she can still get a little extra pride in her step.
