1. Plaid Gets Rad

There are certain fashion trends that are timeless. Plaids and tartans have been around for over 500 years but they are enjoying a moment right now.

Anyone who’s seen our selection of school uniforms knows we carry all kinds of plaid. But what about fashion?

Check out this skirt from Baby Phat – a classic pleated look updated with her fave colors:

You can dress a plaid skirt up with a pair of knee-high boots and a blazer, or dress it down with a printed top. Or, take the stress out of matching with a punk-chic outfit like this:

Grunge-inspired plaid shirts are riding the wave of 1990s nostalgia back into popularity. Pairing an oversized plaid shirt with a pair of tight jeans creates a hip outfit in minutes. Add a pair of plaid slip-on sneakers for even more pop.

Made of light plaid chiffon, this shirt’s a great layering piece:

You have a lot of inspiration to draw from when you wear plaid, from the kilts of the Scottish highlands to Mad Men-inspired 1960s dresses.
