    Cookie’s Community: Mr. Rose

    Cookie’s Community is a monthly column where we highlight some of the amazing people behind the scenes at Cookie’s. The Cookie’s Kids community is unique and diverse and we are so excited to share our stories with our customers.

    Mr. Rose, Store Manger, Fulton Street

    In this month’s Cookie’s Community, we caught up with longtime Cookie’s manager Mr. Rose to learn more about his time at Cookie’s, his history, and some of his favorite things.

    Where are you from originally?

    From Jamaica. I moved to New York in 1985.

    How long have you worked at Cookie’s?

    32 years. I walked into the Flatbush Avenue store and asked Mr. Marvin for a job.

    What was your first job at Cookie’s?

    He gave me a job sweeping the floor. He was happy with how I swept the floor, so he gave me a better job. Eventually, after many jobs in between, I was promoted to manager of the Jamaica Avenue store in 1993. I’ve been the manager at the Fulton Street store since it opened in 1998.

    What stories stand out from your time at Cookie’s?

    How crazy it was around 9/11. Just trying to make it into work and make it home.

    What’s your favorite kind of music?

    Reggae and classical; Bob Marley and Mozart.

    If you could dine with anyone in the world, living or dead, who would you choose?

    Sir Winston Churchill.

    What is your favorite type of cookie?

    Oatmeal Raisin.
