DeKalb Market Hall: New Eats in the Downtown Brooklyn Community

    DeKalb Market Hall is Here!

If you’ve spent any time in Downtown Brooklyn over the last few years, you’ve noticed City Point, the new shopping and dining destination across from Cookie’s Kids. After long delays, Target, Century 21, and the Texas-based theater chain Alamo Drafthouse have all opened their doors. Now DeKalb Market, the food hall that occupies the basement of City Point, is officially open for business.

    Food from Brooklyn and Beyond

Comprised of over 40 diverse and delicious vendors from Brooklyn and beyond, DeKalb Market Hall produces pure sensory overload. There’s Katz’s Delicatessen, the Lower East Side institution famous for their pastrami sandwiches; Hard Times Sundae, a food truck from Mill Basin best known for their burger with bacon and caramelized onions; and Fletcher’s Barbecue, a cult favorite Gowanus barbecue outfit.

DeKalb has plenty of options besides burgers and barbecue,, too. Pierogi Boys cooks up Polish dumplings. Bunker offers a fresh take on Vietnamese classics. BK Jani does grilled meat, Pakistani-style. And make sure to leave room for dessert from places such as Steve’s Key Lime, Ample Hills Creamery, and Dulcinea!

The haphazard layout means every corner brings new sights, smells, and temptations. Picnic-style tables and standing-room-only areas are placed strategically throughout the hall, with more seating on the way. Finally, the murals that adorn the walls, made possible by local arts non-profit BRIC Arts Media, complete this feast for the senses.
